Remote Island Residence No. 1

Located on a remote island and embedded within a dense forested landscape, this residence is defined by restraint, precision, and a deep respect for place. The architecture is composed as a compact volume, elevated lightly above the terrain to preserve the natural ground plane while establishing a clear threshold between arrival and retreat. A restrained material palette of natural wood and dark structural elements allows the building to recede into its surroundings, while carefully positioned openings frame views of trees and distant water, shaping the interior experience through light and seasonality. The project is less an object in the landscape than a quiet intervention, where craft, durability, and siting work together to create a dwelling that feels both deliberate and inevitable within its setting.
